Licensed by the Punjab Provincial Transport Authority. Phase 1 of the vehicle testing regime under Section 39-A is emission testing of private motor cars, delivered by licensed private vendors.

The opportunity

Fee collection is entirely the vendor’s purview. The Transport and Masstransit Department charges no fees and takes no revenue share. At the average Rs 800 fee, a station testing thirty cars a day collects around Rs 24,000 daily, before a single detailing or workshop upsell.

What the license requires

Four requirements, set by the Transport and Masstransit Department.

01SpaceA minimum area of 1,000 sq ft, owned or rented.

02Trained resourceAt least one trained resource to conduct the tests.

03Equipment & data integrationA 5 gas emission analyzer and a diesel opacimeter, plus IT equipment, CCTV, and SDK integration with the T&MD central server.

04DocumentationLand ownership or rental details, registration with the tax authority, SECP incorporation for companies, and equipment specification compliance.
