About the test
What is a PVICS centre?+
PVICS stands for Punjab Vehicle Inspection and Certification System. A PVICS centre is a station licensed by the Transport and Masstransit Department, Government of the Punjab, to test vehicle emissions and issue the official Certificate of Fitness under Section 39-A. Every Auto Aeon station is a licensed PVICS centre.
Why is vehicle emission testing important?+
Two reasons: it is the law, and it is cleaner air. Under Section 39-A every car in Punjab needs a valid certificate, and driving without one risks a fine of Rs 2,000 to 10,000. Just as importantly, the test catches vehicles pumping out excessive smoke, a major cause of the smog Punjab breathes every winter.
Which vehicles can be tested?+
Private motor cars of every engine size, from an Alto to a Land Cruiser. Fees are set by engine capacity in five bands, from Rs 500 to Rs 2,000.
How long does the test take?+
The test itself takes under 5 minutes: drive onto the ramp, the probe reads your exhaust at idle, and the verdict prints. A booked slot is 30 minutes door to door, and booked cars skip the walk-in queue.
Does emission testing improve fuel economy?+
Indirectly, yes. High readings usually mean the engine is burning fuel incompletely. Fix what the test catches, a clogged filter, worn plugs, or a rich mixture, and the same litre takes you further.
Booking & your visit
Do I need an appointment?+
No. Walk-ins are welcome at every station. Booking online is free, takes under two minutes, and reserves a 30 minute slot so you skip the queue.
What documents should I bring?+
None. Just bring the car with its number plate. One thing to check first: your token tax must be paid and up to date, otherwise the station cannot test the vehicle. You can clear it through e-Pay Punjab.
What are your working hours?+
Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. All stations are closed on Sundays.
What payment methods do you accept?+
You pay after the test, at the station: cash, JazzCash, or bank transfer. There is nothing to pay online when you book.
Where are you located?+
Six stations: three in Lahore (Valencia, plus two in Johar Town), one in Multan on Bosan Road, and two in Faisalabad (Iqbal Stadium and West Canal Road). Addresses and direct phone numbers are on the locations page.
Results & retests
What happens if my vehicle fails the test?+
You get a printed report of exactly what went over the limit, and no certificate is issued. Repair the car and return within 14 days: the retest costs half the fee.
Can I return after repair?+
Yes, please do. Return within 14 days of the failed test and the retest is half price. Miss the 14 day window and it counts as a new test at the full fee.
What are the common reasons for failure?+
Carbon monoxide above the 6% NEQS limit is the usual verdict. Behind it: a dirty air filter, worn spark plugs, a rich fuel mixture, exhaust leaks, or a tired catalytic converter. A tune up before the retest fixes most cases.
How often should I get my vehicle tested?+
Once a year. The certificate is valid for 12 months from the day it is issued, and we can text you a reminder before it expires.
Which vehicles are exempt?+
No car is exempt outright, but a new car has time before its first test. The law sets that time by engine size: 5 years after manufacture up to 1000 CC, 6 years from 1001 to 2000 CC, and 7 years above 2000 CC. Auto Aeon recommends testing from year 3, because an early test catches faults sooner and costs you nothing but the fee. After the first test, once every year.
Business, fleets & contact
Why should I choose an Auto Aeon PVICS centre?+
Government licensed, calibrated equipment, and a verdict in minutes with the certificate issued on the spot. Book online in under two minutes, and expect the same standard at all six stations.
Can commercial vehicles be tested?+
Our stations currently test private cars. Commercial vehicles follow a separate government inspection regime. If your business runs cars, your fleet is very welcome.
Can business or fleet owners book multiple vehicles?+
Yes. Book each car online in minutes, or call the contact centre and we will arrange a block of slots so your whole fleet is tested in one visit.
How can I reach the contact centre?+
Call 042-111-AA-TEST, Monday to Saturday, 9 to 6, or WhatsApp 0300 8633772. Every station’s direct number is on the locations page.
